Old lamp LED conversion
This pair of old lamps were probably made in the 70s, super solid and worked flawlessly for years. Now with the fluorescent tubes getting harder and harder to find, I decided to convert them to LED. At first, I thought this will be an hour-long project given my experience converting the shop lights around the house, but noooo... These lamps were super old school, the original switch had not 2, but 8 leads coming out, so it isn’t as simple as hooking up line and load and calling it a day. I had to spend the afternoon looking through forums and old manuals to figure it out. Turns out the high/low voltage start and run phases are handled by the switch, not the typical ballast. The multimeter really helped here. Once everything was clear, the conversion went very smoothly, and the new LED tubes look great in them.
